What is the Gonorrhoea vaccine (Bexsero)?

The gonorrhoea vaccine helps protect against the sexually transmitted infection Gonorrhoea.

The vaccine is also known as the meningococcal group B (MenB) vaccine, or Bexsero®, which was originally created to prevent Meningitis. It is a safe vaccine that has been given to millions of people around the world since 2015.

What are the benefits of the Gonorrhoea vaccine?

The vaccine reduces the chance of getting gonorrhoea by up to 40%.

It also helps to prevent meningitis and blood poisoning (septicaemia).

Who can get vaccinated?

We offer the vaccine to gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men who meet the criteria, please get in touch to discuss eligibility.

You need to have 2 vaccinations at least 1 month apart.

If you are at a higher risk of getting gonorrhoea for other reasons, we might be able to offer you the vaccine.
