A new sexual health service has been launched in Sunderland run by South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.
From the 1st October, Sunderland Sexual Health Service will be one integrated service that addresses all sexual health needs. The service will be delivered from a dedicated hub at Chester Lodge, Sunderland Royal Hospital and will include all family planning and GUM services in the same location.
Outreach clinics and appointments will still be available at Bunny Hill, Washington and Houghton Primary Care Centres and Victoria Road Health Centre. Dedicated clinics for under 25s will also be available.
Andrea Cairns, Sunderland Sexual Health Services Manager, said: “Our new service will provide a one stop shop for people looking to access sexual health services in Sunderland. Our new base at Chester Lodge means we can offer a much more integrated service, including advice, support, screening and treatment all in one place.
“We have spent a lot of time asking those who use our services what improvements we could make and what they want from sexual health services in the future. This new service is very much centred around this feedback and the needs of local people.”
